OUR STORY

It all began with a love for spending time with my mom in the kitchen and the excitement of smelling freshly baked cookies to welcome me home after a day at school. I always loved watching my mom in the kitchen. There was something so special about observing her move about, creating our next meal or tasty dessert to bring to a party. I would often bring a chair over to the counter and stand up high so that I could see over the counter. The best part was that she would always feed me what she made. I was her official taste tester. Seeing my mom in the kitchen inspired me to start baking at a young age. I sold my first cake when I was nine years old for a charity silent auction. The cake was a moist devil's food cake with cherries and sweet cream sandwiched inside. Peaks of whipped cream, cherries and chocolate shavings adorned the top. My vice principal won the bid for the cake. Now, almost twenty years later, I buckle my baby boy into his high chair, put on my apron, and sift, beat and whisk away at the next baked creation that will soon be enjoyed while he watches me dance about in the kitchen.

Who are we?
We are a family that loves to eat, pray and laugh together. My husband, Will, enjoys photography so most of the photos are taken by him. Check him out at Dad with a Camera. My son, JP, is a baby that loves to play and laugh. I haven't yet let him eat any sweets but I can already tell he has a sweet tooth like mama. Me, I'm the baker. I bake because I eat. Whether you need a cakelette for two or a plethora of desserts for 350 (did that while I was 8 months pregnant and had a blast although I made my husband quite nervous!), consider Cakelette for your next sugar fix! Happy eating! Mel.
